In 2004 Christian Audigier entered into an agreement with Hardy to license the rights to market higher-end Ed Hardy clothing creations. Audigier, who was the Head Designer at Von Dutch Originals, hoped to duplicate the success he had marketing the imagery of Kenny Howard.
Audigier's unique strategy was to market to select celebrity clients and then open retail outlets in only high profile fashion districts. The store locations have an international flavor, having been opened in cities such as Tel Aviv, Miami, Tokyo, Singapore and Berlin. Today, Ed Hardy apparel and accessories are among the most innovative and artistic creations existing in the world of fashion.
